Jason joined the firm as a Partner in November 2018 after 10 years of practice at another DC-based energy law firm. Focusing on energy law and the regulation of public utilities, he provides comprehensive representation and counsel to clients in matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), state public utility commissions, and state and federal courts. He has significant expertise in utility-related litigation, having served as lead counsel in multiple evidentiary hearings under Sections 205 and 206 of the Federal Power Act and Sections 4, 5, and 7 of the Natural Gas Act. In addition to litigation, Jason advises clients regarding rulemaking proceedings, renewable energy policy, legislation, compliance and enforcement, stakeholder processes, and transactions/project development. He has also provided strategic advice and counsel to clients in informal and formal settlement negotiations.
Jason frequently represents clients in appeals before multiple United States Circuit Courts of Appeals. In addition to serving as lead counsel in briefing issues before multiple circuits, he has presented oral argument before the District of Columbia Circuit and Seventh Circuit. Committed to serving the community, he also provides pro bono representation to low-income clients in disputes with their local utilities.
Prior to entering private practice in 2008, Jason served as Assistant General Counsel and Litigation Counsel at the Kansas Corporation Commission.
